Being Prepared for the Worst (Active Shooter on the Job)
Interpreters,
Recent school, mall, and other shooting incidents remind us of the need to be prepared for what are referred to as active shooter incidents. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has developed materials to help people prepare for such incidents. The City of Houston’s Ready Houston program developed a video. Please review the below materials and use them as you see fit.
Wallet Card
Please print and keep the DHS’ Active Shooter Wallet Card where you can access it quickly. You may wish to print and keep copies in a few locations.
Video
- You may want to view the City of Houston’s Ready Houston program’s Run. Hide. Fight.: Surviving an active shooter event video or text. NOTE: This video includes a realistic depiction of an Active Shooter event and reaction to it.
- Another Option is this video: DHS’ Options for Consideration: Active Shooter scenario training video. It is a shorter version of the video above.
Booklet
Please review and keep DHS’ Active Shooter: How to Respond booklet.
Thank you for your time attention to these important matters,
