Interpreters Customers

For Organizations

NIS*STAT is a service of Network Interpreting Service created to help San Diego County hospitals, health care providers and law enforcement agencies be readily accessible to the Deaf.

The NIS*STAT program utilizes on-call staff interpreters and independent contractors.

If you have questions, please email stat@networkinterpretingservice.com

For Deaf Clients

If you are a Deaf or Hard of Hearing person who would like more information about securing services at your health care provider or hospital, please email us at stat@networkinterpretingservice.com and we will consult with you.

If appropriate to the situation, a Deaf or Hard of Hearing person who needs an interpreter for a medical emergency situation should call the hospital or health care provider to let them know they are on their way and will need a certified sign language interpreter. If calling in advance is not reasonable then the Deaf client can alert the hospital after arriving.

A Deaf or Hard of hearing person may call Network Interpreting Service in advance of going to the hospital. Our office can then call the hospital and see if arrangements can be made in advance of the patients arrival.

If you are contacting us before 7am or after 5pm PST, you need to email or call us at one of the following:

  • stat@aslnis.com or stat@networkinterpretingservice.com (either one is fine)
  • Through Relay Service to Voice Phone Number: 800-284-1043 x709

Hospitals and other emergency service providers are responsible for securing interpreting service for the Deaf.

For Interpreters

If you are a certified ASL interpreter interested in independently contracting your services to the NIS*STAT program, please contact us.
